How we choose the gifts
Every gift idea on Gifted starts as an object on a shelf in one of our explorable 3D rooms. If no room holds it, no page lists it. Nothing is sold here: a pick sends you out to the retailer, where the real listings live — usually a search with the words already filled in, and in our partner rooms a single product at the brand's own store.
It starts in a room
Each room is built for someone or for a moment: the Kitchen for the host, the Garage for the builder, the Toy Shop for the kids, Last Minute Gifts for right now. Inside, a room is divided into bays, like the coffee counter in the Kitchen or the tool wall in the Garage, and each bay holds the objects that belong there.
Click an object and a drawer opens with the kinds of that thing to choose between. The Dutch oven in the Kitchen, for example, opens enameled cast iron, round and oval ones, and a care set for someone who already owns one.
What earns a place on a shelf
Each shelf aims to hold the kinds of gift people commonly look for in its category, so a search shows you the range rather than one maker's model. The aim across the whole site is that whoever you are choosing for, a room has something for them. A gift is meant to suit a person, not a budget, so the shelves are built to cover the people, not to leave anyone out.
Most picks open a search
Outside the partner rooms, a pick opens a search at the retailer with the words already filled in, such as “enameled cast iron dutch oven gift”. Most searches name a kind of thing rather than one maker's model, so you see the range and choose for yourself. The listings, prices and stock you see there are the retailer's, ranked the retailer's way.
In most rooms, the drawer can also open the same search at other large stores. On the gift pages, picks open at Amazon, apart from the partner rooms below. The pages are generated from the same shelf data the rooms run on, so a page and its room send you to the same search.
Partner rooms
A partner room is built with one brand. Its pieces open that exact product at the brand's own store, and Gifted earns nothing on those links. Each partner room says whose it is on the room itself, and the arrangement is set out in full on Partner rooms.
No prices, ratings or reviews
Gifted shows no prices, star ratings, review counts or stock levels, on purpose. They change constantly, and the site has no live connection to the retailer's catalogue, so a figure printed here would soon be wrong. The retailer's own page is the only place they are current. Nothing here is ranked by rating either.
How a gift page is put together
The gift pages, from gifts for mom to housewarming gifts, cut across the rooms. Each is built from particular bays rather than whole rooms, so the page for a wife and the page for a sister don't come out as the same list.
Each section opens with a short note on how to choose within it: what to look for, what to skip, which pick is the safe one. A section shows different things from its bay rather than several versions of one thing, and a search already shown higher up the page isn't repeated.
Before a page goes up, its list is compared with every other gift page, and two pages that share too much get different bays. A bay with too little behind it doesn't get a page of its own; its picks are listed on its room's page instead. Every gift page shows the month it was last updated.
How Gifted earns money
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you follow a pick to Amazon and make a qualifying purchase there, Amazon may pay Gifted a small commission, at no extra cost to you.
A commission doesn't decide whether something goes in a room or where it sits on a shelf. No brand has paid for a room. Gifted takes no payments and handles no returns. The full terms are on the disclosure page.
